  There variable rates are nonsense. I know more than the avg joe about t.p.suppliers especially after much research.
Firstly constellation is 1 of the very few suppliers that charge a monthly fee for having them as your supplier.... 95% of t.p.suppliers do not.

Also there cancellation fees are extremely high. If there pricing is so good, why is there a $150 cancelation fee? Most suppliers do not have cancellation fees. Don't choose constellation as your supplier, don't believe me do some research online and dig... you'll see

Horrible Company! Refuses to allow you to track usage in real time.

  Does not allow you to track you usage. You will get an energy bill every month that shows twice what you actually used. They claim to use Smart Meter Texas and all you have to do is make an account and you can track you usage. Unfortunately, Smart Meter Texas will not accept Constellation's PUCT Certificate number, the ESIID, or any one of the twelve different company names they use for the same address in Houston. I am happy to report this deplorable company to ERCOT.

Bait and switch or outright lye when you call, by far the worst CS ever

  Find another company. I can not record this enough.

Lets start at the plan. I called them to confirm and asked questions, I was told they charge buy the KWH, whatever I use, I get charged for, they confirmed the rate, so signed up as my previous contract was ending and they offered nothing at market rates. Set up to start, on the last day of my previous plan and the day my meter sends in its readings.

First bill come n a few days later for 150 bucks. I call them, they try to tell me my plan has a min charge of 159, Nope, then that I am prepaying for future usage, nope, so after 4 people finally get someone with average intelligence who can see it is wrong at my bill is correct.

After he first full month I get another bill. Again, charging incorrectly, charging me for almost twice my usage. Again I call, again chuck and jive. After multiple people finally get Simeon who can see something is off, but can not fix it. Get another and he stats telling me I clearly am stupid and can not understand math (side not, I hold a BS in mathameyics and a BS and MS in engineering, AND a MBA in finance, so clearly I have an ok understanding of math. After I get a claimed supervisor I get it partly corrected, atleast it is within 20 bucks of what it should be, bit I am done, 50 bucks to cxl worth every penny.
It 8 days into my moth and I start with another company. I get a bill for 748.24 cents. For 8 days and a 50 dollar fee.

Again, speak to several people, finally get s energy who comes up with 128 bucks, more than my average monthly bill the last 2 years.

I ask of an accounting, and a corrected bill.

I never got it, called again.

Now. Get a late notice. Call again, they refuse to send an invoice or tell me where they get the Balance due.

Still waiting.

Got another letter, but still no accounting. I pod it just t be done with this.

I highly recommend you find another company.

Lack if transparency

  Called July 19 about 3PM with the intention of leaving GEXA. Plans and most reviews were pretty good. I asked the agent three very simple questions. Took 20 minutes to extract those answers. The questions were these. What is the price per kwh at 1000, 2000, and 3000. Was told the numbers would vary from the quoted rates. So I asked the questions another way. What is the highest kwh rate I would pay between 1000 and 2000, 2000 and 3000, and 3000 and 4000? Finally got answers after just flat insisting on them. Final question was: Will you send me those quotes in writing. Agent stated they would only send the 1000 kwh quote. Spoke to supervisor Daniel Garza. Again, went around the world to finally get the quotes I needed. However, would not agree to put the maximum kwh price in writing. Really disappointed in the lack of transparency on these calls. Would have signed up in 10 minutes if getting answers were not the equivalent of pulling a wisdom tooth whose roots were wrapped around the jawbone. What a shame. Was prepared to become a Constellation customer. Guess I should have tempered my expectations before I called. Really sad.

  They do not tell you that cycle can be of 27 to 35 days. So, you always pay full bill as they read meter before cycle ends and so you will never get discount which they claim when you sign up.

Not easy to work with Constellation

  I was very disappointed by the customer service I received from Constellation Energy. Twenty-five minutes of waiting on hold only to speak with a representative who transfers to another person, another long and on and on it goes until they disconnected me. Three times this happened. Two hours wasted, so I emailed and no response for a week. Out-sourced help desk. Not worth their poor quality lack of service!

Terrible follow through on promises

  We had adjustments needed for two business accounts. It took 4 months and many calls to get it done, despite repeated promises to have it done immediately. As well, their online "energy manager" is never current with what the billing department has received, so you can't confirm account status effectively. I do not recommend using them.

No communication Gas turned off, difficulties restoring NO HOT WATER for 5 Days

  Sign up in line everything said, couldn't talk to a real person so I finally did sign up on line.
And that's where it stopped.
Moved in May 1, had hot water until middle of June.
Came home to no hot water.
Called constellation energy, talked with someone who
Wouldn't help me, said call back tomorrow and talk with customer service.
I didn't want to wait until Friday, so Thursday evening I signed up
again on line!!
What no one said was that then you have to get an appointment with Atlanta Gas Light to schedule a turn on.

So just HOW WAS I SUPPOSED to know this??

When I called Friday, they told me someone from constellation energy should have called me,

So that means that twice I signed up and twice they didn't call me.

When I called customer service early Friday morning they tell me that the first
available appointment for turn with Atlanta Gas Light is Tuesday.
So I have to call all weekend without hot water!!! Arghhhh!!
I then call Atlanta Gas light and tell them my experience and ask if there is any way to get service sooner.
They tell me that Constellation energy would have to call and tell them it was a marketing error on their part and
they would move me up.

I call back to Constellation energy and tell them this and they tell me there is nothing they can do, but offered me
25 dollars off!!! I told them I would rather have HOT WATER!!!

I called back again and asked to speak to another supervisor, told him the entire story and he said he would look into everything....called me back at 2 oclock Friday afternoon and said they would move my gas turn on to Monday.....

I said well Monday is better than Tuesday!!


No communication....Bottom line....DON"T SIGN UP ON LINE!! and make sure you have a turn on date!!!

Complicated billing practices

  Been customer for years with auto pay due to many military deployments. I received a disconnect notice today. After waiting on hold for 48 minutes, Michael, whom was not very cler told me the company moved and all the auto pay customers were kicked out the system. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they were not in the office. With all the fraud going on it is hard to believe a company of this size has moved and all auto pay customers are kicked out. I'm going to pay what I owe, I'm no longer going with auto pay and I'm looking or another provider. I guess long time customers don't matter. All I wanted was a clear legibly explanation and/ or speak with a supervisor. There was no apology for their mistake. I'm being taken for granted.

Broken Promises & Horrible CS from a former great company

  I have been with Startex for over 3 years and had nothing but praise until Constellation took over. When renewing the new offered rates charged 9.95 for low use. I called to cancel and was offered to stay at same rate I previously had. When my contract was not updated and my bill was late I spent more then 20 hours on phone trying to get my bill and to get Startex to honor agreed on bill. It is now 7 months later and my bills are still messed up and I cannot get a straight answer from Customer Service or a promised call back from a supervisor. Something is seriously wrong with this company as they don't have the ability to bill correctly and customer service does not have the ability to resolve or correct any issue. In the past 7 months my bills have twice skipped months and I still don't believe they are charging me the correct rate. The really sad part is a call to this companies customer service will not resolve any issue.

Little to Recommend

  StarTex was once independent and they were great. Then they were bought by Constellation Energy and it's been a nightmare ever since. They screwed up almost everyone's bills at one point and were impossible to reach during the fiasco. Further, they sent out delinquent notices due to their screw up. I asked for and received a letter stating so, just to cover my rear. Their plans are difficult to understand, which is saying something given how hard all of them are. Additionally, when my contract was up, I called them to see what they had available. I asked for the best price based on my service. They quoted me a plan based on at least 2000 kWh per month. Well, my average is only 1037 and I only hit 2000 or more four times in the last 28 months. But, wait, there's more. This first plan included (at no extra charge, just a higher rate!) Air Conditioning "insurance." Be very careful of such insurance plans. At best, they're simply prepaid inspections and at a very high price. So, I asked for a cheaper rate and after about 15 more minutes, I finally got to what their cheapest plan is. Why should one have to go through such nonsense to find the best rate?So, given lousy customer service, rates that are on the high side, and statements that are a pain to retrieve, who needs StarTex/Constellation Power?

Once Great - Not Anymore!

  Was a loyal customer for years, but recently their decline in customer service and care has made me reconsider. They were always so great about letting me know when my contract was about to expire (a huge perk in my opinion) and providing me different renewal plans with incentives based on length of service I could sign up for. This must be a thing of the past. I did not get a renewal notice this time (via email or postal mail) what I got was a big fat bill with outrageously charges once my contract had lapsed. I called customer services and they were anything but helpful - all they tried to do was push me into another contract. When I was on hold for nearly 10 minutes I had time to explore other much, much more reasonable options and told the customer service agent I'd be taking my business elsewhere. They couldn't care less. After over 5 years of customer loyalty, I feel that this company has gone downhill. I would not recommend them at all!
